For the last three weeks, I've been in teacher training.  I'd gone in quite negatively, for some reason.  I didn't think that it could/would be that interesting or useful.  I was very wrong.  We have an amazing course leader, who is a great model and who has reshaped my idea of what a teacher is.  I think that all teachers model, at least partly, their classroom behaviour on the teachers that they had in school.  That, after all, is how our perceptions of teacher behaviour are formed.   Coming from a school that lacked excellent teachers as role models, I often noticed that my ideas of what a good teacher should be has been based on half-baked notions taken from Hollywood and Miss Honey in Matilda.  Now, though, our course leader has provided three weeks of solid modelling of great teaching.  That alone has been worth the admission price.  In addition, we have been thrown into a world of theory that has been immensely helpful...I've learnt so much in just three weeks that I don't know where to start.
I'm going to try and make this blog as educational as possible and to share as much of the "good stuff" that we learn as keep your eyes peeled for the next post!
                 Happy teaching,
